Drivers: The Unsung Heroes of the Supply Chain

March 20, 2020 | Insights

As the world mobilizes its response to the COVID-19 pandemic, it becomes clear how much we depend on certain professions to show up for us in the face of a crisis: nurses, doctors, police officers, and other emergency responders don’t have the option to work from home. They show up every day to take care of the rest of us. In the world of logistics, these essential people are our drivers—both on the road and in the yard.

We often say that our drivers are the backbone of the supply chain, and the COVID-19 virus has highlighted just how true that statement is. Shunt drivers make sure essential goods our customers identified as essential businesses. And just think—without shunt drivers, the toilet paper crisis would be a whole lot worse!

We want to express our gratitude to every one of our dedicated drivers for showing up every day to keep our world moving forward. We’ve built our entire organization to support the critical role our drivers play in the North American supply chain. And most of them are working long hours and extra shifts in order to keep up with demand.

So, if you see one of our drivers out there in the yard or on the road, give them a friendly wave and a thumbs up for a job well done! And if you could use any additional logistics support during this challenging time, NSSL is always a phone call away.
