Our Story
National Shunt Service (NSSL) has spent more than 25+ years helping organizations run safely, more efficient, and more controlled yard operations.
Founded in 1999, NSSL is a trusted yard management company serving complex distribution and manufacturing operations across North America. By combining skilled shunt truck drivers, experienced operations leadership, and a client-first approach, we help customers transform yards from overlooked cost centers into productive, performance-driven operations.
Innovation and accountability have guided NSSL’s evolution. From the launch of Shuntware® and expanded gatehouse services to advanced analytics and EV-ready operations, we continue to invest in solutions that deliver measurable improvements across safety, throughput, and cost.

NSSL was incorporated in Canada.
Launched Version 1 of NSSL’s Yard Management Software (YMS), Shuntware.
Introduced Gatehouse & Welcome Center Services, enhancing connectivity in yard management.
Expanded operations into the U.S.
First recognized as a Top Fleet Employer by Trucking HR Canada, now celebrating 10+ consecutive years, since earning the recognition in 2025. The award was received for excellence in employee health, safety, training, and development programs.
Launched Analytics as a Service and refreshed the Shuntware interface, offering advanced, data-driven insights.
Expanded the National Shunt Connect Team’s services and footprint.
