About Lorne Stewart

Having founded Cobourg Cartage many years ago, Lorne continued to play an integral role in the short term and long term decision-making of National Shunt Service leadership team right up until his passing on September 10th, 2022. He actively participated in all areas the business, bringing a level of industry specific knowledge to all areas of the NSSL operation. It was his commitment to maintain an unrivalled level of customer service that has permeated through the organization, a commitment that is shared and practiced every day by each employee at National Shunt Service.

Lorne, along with his three sons, were and still are avid supporters of the Canadian Football League. In all his years, Lorne attended over 52 Grey Cups across Canada, and was a season ticket holder for close to 30 years!

Lorne is missed dearly by his three sons, five grandkids, family, and his many friends and colleagues. His wife Connie, who he missed tremendously, sadly passed just before him on July 26th, 2022.

Lorne’s memory is kept alive by operating NSSL how he would have; with compassion, trust, honesty, and making sure that every move counts.
