National Shunt Service Ltd. is a family owned and operated transportation Company that operates across North America.  We specialize in yard management (shunting).  With over 20 years of experience providing innovative yard management services (operations and technology), NSSL executes a TOTAL YARD MANAGEMENT PROGRAM for any type of warehouse, manufacturer or cross-dock operation in North America.  We call it shunting but you may know it as: spotting, jockeying, yarding or switching.   We manage in excess of 150,000 shipment movements per month for some of the leading name brand manufacturers and major retailers in North America.

This strategy driven position includes working with and managing current marketing, sales, and customer engagement focused team members. This also includes working with a marketing firm to develop content and approve postings across all social media and communication platforms.  You will be central to driving sales for our fast-growing company, leading the way as we pursue rapid expansion in the U.S.

Primary Duties:

  • Creatively generate sales targets and leads, ensuring strategy in and best use of leading sales management tools
  • Develop databases of new customers in identified markets and industries, keeping track of the engagement of those leads
  • Identify competition, trends, emerging markets and other growth opportunities.
  • Identify new business and service opportunities through research, networks and cold calling
  • Develop and monitor the budget for Sales/Marketing.
  • Develop and maintain customer relationships, facilitating prospective customers through all aspects of our sales cycle from initial engagement to proposal.Successfully establish new customer accounts
  • Communicate frequently with current and potential customers via phone and email, assessing customer needs and recommending services
  • Manage current client accounts, including strategically coordinating and managing customer engagement sessions
  • Negotiating sales prices and sales discounts with key customer decision makers
  • Provide timely, accurate, competitive pricing on RFQs while striving to maintain, maximum profit margin plan, schedule and prioritize resources, assign tasks and projects
  • Superuser of NSSL system with the ability to demo and present available software.  Look for ways to integrate or automate and solve via systems.
  • Extract and analyze data to prepare monthly, quarterly, and/or annual reports that provide sales figures to management, key performance indicators, as well as reports that forecast expected future sales.
  • Maintain an upbeat, positive attitude, manifesting a sense of urgency, constant innovation, teamwork, and strong commitment to individual accountability.
  • Adheres to all company policies, procedures and business ethics

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business preferred, equivalent experience accepted
  • 5 years of strong sales and marketing experience
  • Management experience preferred
  • Experience within or working with Fortune 500 companies preferred
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Effective project management skills, including time management with high attention to detail.
  • Excellent listening & communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficient in MS Office/Google Docs, with a strong emphasis on PowerPoint and Excel/Google Sheets
  • Ability to initiate, facilitate, and track conversations
  • Work in a non-emotionally invested/ non-biased manner
  • Strong calendar and scheduling skills, with the ability to manage various engagements daily in conjunction with industry seasonality
  • Ability to travel as needed within Canada and to the United States
